10 garments, 7 days, 1 winter fashion challenge…
Fashion Challenge Introduction
You’ve all been highly requesting a wardrobe challenge from me, especially since I did Live From The ’80s week last year. So you’ll be happy to know that all this week I will be taking part in a winter capsule wardrobe challenge… but with a twist.
I was inspired by my last post about outfit planning apps and decided to use my favorite one – Fashion You – to create 7 days worth of outfits from 10 pieces of clothing. I’ve never done a capsule wardrobe so this is going to be very interesting!
What’s Clothes Are Being Worn?
I did a little research about 7 day capsule wardrobes on Pinterest and the general consensus was 10 pieces was all you need. So I picked out 10 pieces that I felt were cohesive and had a chance of being mixed & matched this week. Here’s what you can expect!
• 3 Shirts
I feel like these 3 shirts sum me up pretty well. In any given week I will wear a graphic tee, a turtleneck, and a cozy sweater.
• 2 Dresses
Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you have to stop wearing dresses! I’m excited to see how the app will pair these with other things in my closet and how they can be transformed into weather-appropriate pieces.
• 2 Topper Pieces
A cardigan and denim jacket are my favorite go-to toppers and they just happen to fit with the color scheme. These should be pretty easy to pair with any outfit!
• 1 Pair of Jeans
I haven’t had a chance to gush about these jeans I bought last month from H&M but they are THE HOLY GRAIL. (Well, for me, anyways) They’re black, high waisted, stretchy, and the perfect skinny leg. You’ll see what I mean when I wear them this week!
• 1 Skirt
I don’t have as many skirts as I used to so this was the closest I could find that fit the colors of the challenge. It’s a very lightweight material so we’ll see how it holds up for winter!
• 1 pair of flats
This is so boring.. a pair of gray flats! Not even boots! Most of the time I’m not outside long enough for the elements to touch me so I think I should be ok getting away with flats.
I’ve opted to not include outerwear as the weather is unpredictable and I don’t want to get caught with the wrong jacket. You’ll also notice there aren’t any accessories!
Since this is my challenge, I make the rules and I decided that instead of letting an app accessorize for me, this will be a great chance for me to make good of one of my 2018 fashion goals which is to learn how to wear accessories!
The first outfit of this challenge will be coming later today. So be sure to follow along (links down below) to stay up to date. Also, if you have a friend that would be interested in this challenge, please share this post with them or Pin it for your own future reference!
