Welcome to my new informal series where I’m going to answer your style questions!
Last week we found out where my style comes from and today I’m going to tackle another question you asked.
How do you layer stylishly in the winter?
This is such a great question because every time cold weather rolls around, it’s like I suddenly forget how to dress. Luckily I got us both covered today!
I came up with my best of the best ideas and then dug through my outfit archive to find photos to help support my advice. So, in no particular order…
Barely There Layers
If you’re all about staying stylish and warm, then these tips should all be helpful. But the greatest of them all is wearing secret layers – that way you can continue to wear all your cute clothes without freezing your behind off!
Secret layers would include thin garments under your outfit like camis (I love the long line ones from Forever 21!), leggings under bulkier items, and multiple tights when you don’t have a lot of room to work with.
Totally Obvious Layers
Why try to hide that you’re wearing a million layers outside? It’s cold, people are going to understand. Instead, strategically layer your clothes so they fit together like a puzzle. Or better yet – a work of art!
Cozy & Warm Layers
You can cut down on wearing a bunch of clothes by thoughtfully choosing a few that are extra warm. Wool coats, faux fur, and thick sweaters are just a few ideas!
A Toast To Coats!
Oh and, not so much a secret but, investing in cute outerwear is pretty much a must! I wouldn’t be where I am without my favorite leopard print coat, my trusty anorak coat, or my vintage pink coat.
If you’re fortunate to thrift one, count yourself lucky! I’ve come to the conclusion that if one survived in somebody’s closet and made it in perfect condition to a thrift store, it must be made to last. Snatch it up!!!
These are a few of my top picks from around the web that you can shop for right now:
