My Closet Hack For Creating Outfits I Love
Another summer has come and gone, and I made sure to squeeze every last bit of summer fashion out of it (see the yellow outfit below for proof).
While I wasn’t consistent with sharing my outfits on this blog, I was consistent in getting dressed thanks to a little style hack I put together at the start of summer.
Since each season seems to fly by quicker than the next, I purposely combed through my clothes and pulled out pieces that spoke to me—either new thrift finds, old favorites, or ones that have gone unworn for a couple of years now. I added all of those pieces to a special place in my closet and chose to style from them every time I had to get dressed.
It wasn’t a hard and fast rule; I still pulled from the rest of my closet. But I made sure to get through that special rack as much as possible.
I’m happy to say I only have three pieces left, and I plan to roll them in with my fall selections.
So let’s take a look at how this experiment played out with five outfits I wore this summer!
A Summer Outfit With Polka Dot Shorts
Do these polka dot shorts look familiar? They’re my most worn summer item ever! (Yes, I did the math.)
They’re still going strong into another year, so this time I paired them with a yellow crop top I got from my local clothing swap I hosted last year. To round out the outfit, I added yellow accessories and comfy sandals!
A Summer Outfit With A Plaid Dress
Another clothing swap item? This pink plaid dress! It’s delightfully whimsical with its sweetheart neckline and ruffled hem, so I paired it up with equally adorable extras—like a pink denim jacket, a thrifted yellow purse, and matchy-matchy pink hoop earrings.
I envision this being great for a Barbie-themed party or a fun date night outing!
A Summer Outfit With A Hawaiian Print Shirt
I’m never one to shy away from dressing weird so putting together this Hawaiian print shirt and red shorts felt perfectly me!
It’s similar to another bright and summer-y look I wore a few years ago but this is more than the picnic version vs the BBQ version, if that makes any sense! (Hopefully the fashion girlies get it)
A Monotone Summer Outfit
Who says beige has to be boring? As a rainbow-y outfit repeater, I challenged myself to style a neutral but make it fabulous. I think this ThredUp gold tee, off-white capris, and stellar vintage gold belt are anything but basic!
A Summer Outfit With A Thrifted Red Dress
An airy summer dress and vintage beaded purse like this are just one of the many reasons that I love thrifting!
While these aren’t at the top of my list (um, I’ve literally thrifted a sequin butterfly blouse!), they’re decent contenders because of how good make me feel!
A Summer Outfit With A Thrifted Pink Dress
I saved the best for last-this stunning Barbie pink maxi dress I thrifted last summer! It just screamed to be styled for an adventure and, while I didn’t go outside my hometown this summer, this was a stunner to dress up for a regular day in my life.
I paired it with vintage parrot earrings, a Goodwill straw hat, a green ThredUp tote bag, and my trusty off-white sandals.
