Winter isn’t just cold. It can be gray and dull too. Having a warm, Winter coat is important but that doesn’t mean it has to be boring!

I love browsing the coats at thrift stores, especially out of season, for colorful coats that will cheer me up as the Winter days drag on. I actually came across this pink puffer coat on thredUP!

thredUP is the largest online consignment and thrift store. I write about them a lot on here as I am an unpaid partner that receives a monthly shopping credit to use on their website.

But enough about them – let’s talk about this coat!

Puff Piece

I never thought I’d be a puffer coat person. I loved them on other people but thought I’d feel like a human marshmallow in one.

Then a couple of years ago, a good friend of mine urged me to try one because of their warmth. And later, a customer at the clothing store I was working at came in wearing the most fabulous long yellow puffer coat. It sounds outrageous but she was rocking it!

Those two incidents convinced me to start a search for my perfect coat and I came across this one on thredUP. The pink color is eye-catching, but not overbearing – just what I was looking for! It was a bit of a splurge at $38 but it’s served me now for two Winters so it was well worth the investment.

A Human Marshmallow

Do I still feel like a human marshmallow? Yes. But a toasty human marshmallow. lol

To counteract the volume of the coat, I paired it with skinny jeans in a contrasting color and layered strategically underneath.

While it’s a very warm coat, you still have to dress according to the weather. So I wore one of my favorite ribbed high neck tanks from Maurices, with a white thrifted duster, and added a light pink scarf to pop against the coat. My hat is an old find from Maurices. It magically matches all my Winter coats!

Thrilled To Be Chilled

I’m so glad I took the plunge and tried out a puffer coat! It’s always fun to try new things – especially in the Winter when that cabin fever starts to hit. Having a colorful coat to wear reminds me that Spring isn’t too far away!
