I always knew when I found the perfect leopard print coat that I would dedicate an entire blog post to it. Well, here we are…
My hunt began about 4 years ago after I deemed leopard print coats ‘cool’. They no longer felt tacky to me and I wanted to own one as soon as possible. In fact, I was willing to drop nearly $80 on one I spied in a vintage store a couple years ago. The only thing that kept us from running away together was the ripped lining.. and kinda sorta the old person smell.
After that, I vowed not to thrift one because most that I came across were in similar rough shape. Even though bargains and secondhand clothes are my life (my top and skirt were free) I knew this coat was something I would have to drop real cash on and Forever 21 had just the one but our timing never worked out.
I watched this coat on the Forever21 website for the last two seasons and the price finally dipped below $50 and included free shipping. I closed my eyes and hit the ‘buy’ button.
It was right of me to worry because the coat ended up not fitting and to top it off, was unreturnable. You know how far $50 could have gotten me in a thrift store and now I just threw it away on a single coat? To say I was bummed out would be an understatement.
The only thing I could think of was to resell it and try to get my money back. I hopped onto a new-to-me app called Poshmark and put it up for sale. (See the listing here.) Just for fun, I checked the app to see if anyone else was selling my dream coat and somebody did have one up for grabs with new tags and original packaging! I quickly made an offer and then waited.. and waited.. and waited.. eventually I gave up because it seemed hopeless.
But then I got the best e-mail ever on Christmas day from the seller, and she wanted to offer me an even better deal for the coat. She seriously my day! I mean, no offence to the thoughtful gifts from my family but, well, ya know..
A few weeks later, the coat was in my possession and it instantly felt like reconnecting with an old friend. Given that my friend was made of faux fur that felt like butt-ah when I petted it.
Good things come to those who wait and, if you’re lucky, that ‘good thing’ just may be the item of your dreams!

I can feel the nausea you must’ve had when you spent good money on something that didn’t fit. That’s one of the worst feelings everrrrrr! I’m SO happy you finally got the leopard print coat of your dreams! It looks so perfect on you. To think that I have 2 leopard print coats that I thrifted and both fit me perfectly makes me feel guilty that I don’t wear them enough. In honor of you, I’m going to blog about mine soon! ♡♡♡
Such a perfect coat. <3 Love your shoes, too!
