I went to my first fashion show and lived to blog about it!
No, I didn’t model (HA!) but I did get to sit second row (s’row?) on Saturday, October 7th and observe an amazing show put on for the Boston Store: New & Now Fashion event at the West Towne Mall in Madison, Wisconsin.
In true blogger fashion, I snapped lots of pics so let’s dig into the recap.
Fashion In The Midwest
First, I just want to give a mad props to Wisconsin for participating in fashion. Our events are far and few in between but it just goes to show that fashion is accessible to anyone. You don’t have to live in a fashion capital to love clothes and celebrate them with like-minded individuals.
I would highly encourage you to seek out these sorts of events in your area. If there are none, why not start one?
Boston Store New & Now: Fashion & Beauty Event
The professionalism of this event was top notch. From the minute my guest & I walked into the mall, the staff was so kind and helpful. They got us set up with everything we needed to enjoy the show which included a seat saver card, swag bag, and shopping discounts.
The store was buzzing with fashionistas and there was definitely an excitement in the air.
After taking our seats, we shopped around and got caught up in the accessories where we tried on every pair of sunglasses we could get our hands on. So much Betsey Johnson. My heart wanted all of them but my bank account wouldn’t allow it.
There was also complimentary makeovers happening at the Estée Lauder beauty counter and a full breakfast spread and coffee bar to enjoy.
After taking everything in, it was time for the show to start.
The Runway Show
Our hostess with the mostest was WKOW TV 27 News Anchor Caroline Bach whose high energy did a fabulous job of keeping the show moving. There was also a great DJ on hand spinning beats to match the movement of the fashion.
As I said earlier about the Boston Store staff, the professionalism was also amazing among the Ford models and the stylists who put together the entire line-up of fall trends.
There were so many outfits that I was swooning over. Not to mention the male model who got an audible gasp every time he strutted down the runway!
Of all the looks, I was most smitten by the by the one that’s in the middle of my collage. It’s a Calvin Klein metallic sleeveless leopard print dress with an over-sized Free People embroidered bomber jacket on top.
As soon as the show commenced, I started doing some serious shopping!
After The Show
There were helpers on hand to direct you towards the pieces from the show but I knew exactly what I wanted to try on – the embroidered bomber jacket from the show that I loved so much!
The jacket ended up being just as comfy and stylish as the model made it look. But, like with the sunglasses, I also had to leave it behind. My main objective of shopping that day was to buy new space saving clothes hangers to makeover my closet.
I’ve been researching for weeks and ultimately found the best deal at Boston Store. In total I bought 2 packs of 50 hangers for $19.97 each and used the $10 gift card provided to me from the New & Now event. That means my closet is getting a whole new look for under $50!
The hangers have already been implemented in my closet and now, after all the fashion inspiration from the show, I feel so motivated to wear everything in my closet!
What I Would Do Differently Next Time
Personally, I would have tested my outfit a little better beforehand instead of finding out at the mall that my dress was riding up the entire time. That mistake is all on me!
And from an online influencer standpoint, I wish the event had more promotion and social media coverage. Because I make my living online doing that sort of thing, proper social media exposure is huge to me. I also believe that it should be a big deal when fashion finally comes to Wisconsin!
While the hosts & staff placed focus on it, the hashtags online were vacant. From what I gather, Boston Store doesn’t have a lot of online presence or marketing as of right now which I hope is something they change soon!
Overall, I’m excited I got to participate in this event and had a great time. If Wisconsin hosts more events like this place in the future, I am so in!
How exciting! The Betsy Johnson glasses look dazzling on you. Perhaps they are DIY-able with cat eye frames and small rhinestones.
The floral bomber jacket was abs fab, especially with the hat. Please tell me that you saved the seat saver card as a memento. It would look awesome framed in your room, plus you’ve been certified as a fashionista :-).
I hope there is an avenue where you’re able to share your incites about the event with the organizers and store, as I’m sure they’re looking for ways to improve events and gain exposure.
