The Basics of a Brunch Outfit in the Midwest

hannah rupp the outfit repeater brunch outfit midwest sweater winterIdeally I eat breakfast wearing pajamas in the comfort of my own home, but sometimes I eat breakfast at strange places while dressed like a Sesame Street extra. And when that happens, you get outfit photos.

I don’t get out much so I’m not sure what is appropriate attire for restaurants but this one didn’t draw any attention to me and managed to stay clear of any food droppings so I’d say it’s a winner!

It was fun going out for grub with my mom but I think I’m better off eating breakfast at home in front of a t.v. like an American.

  • 20+ Ways To Collab With Fashion Bloggers and Brands

20+ Ways To Collab With Fashion Bloggers and Brands | The Outfit Repeater

collab with fashion bloggers brands companies collaboration sponsorships friends real life

If you could hack my Google history you would see “how to collab with fashion bloggers” pop up frequently. The reason being is that so many of those blogging how-to posts on the internet encourage you to work with bloggers and brands but then don’t tell you how to do it. What the heck does that look like?!

Today I put on my blogging thinking cap and crafted up a whole list of ideas of how to get connected with other creative people of the internet.

    Work With Bloggers

    • Play stylists for each other in a blog post. Virtually flip through their closet and pull together a look for them to model in a blog post. You can see an example here.
    • Host a giveaway together. (You could also reach out to a brand to help sponsor a more elaborate prize.)
    • Create a link-up. This will not only allow you two to work together but give you a chance to reach out to even more bloggers. It’s a win-win!
    • Re-create an outfit from the other persons blog. Tell your readers about your inspiration and what you did to make it your own.
    • Create a handy guide in two parts. Post one half on your blog and the other half on your friend’s blog. You can get really creative coming up with something to entertain your readers! (Could also be used in more than two parts to include even more bloggers.)
    • Recreate the look of a celebrity/other inspiration. Instead of picking an outfit from the other blogger, decide on a celebrity or other source to be inspired by. Share with your readers your take on the look.
    • Use a quote from another blogger. If you have conflicting schedules and can’t work out a post together, even using a quote from another blogger is a small gesture and a way of getting their name on your blog.
    • Swap something using snail mail. So many amazing groups have created blogs using this concept. Swap clothes, jewelry, or beauty products with one another to share in a post.
    • Host a fashion face-off. Pick a piece of clothing that you both have and style it on your blogs. This is double the dose of inspiration for your readers.
    • Interview one another. This is a great way to get to know each other and ask ridiculous questions like “Which candy bar describes your approach to blogging?”
    • Share a post on social media. Did you read something amazing from a blogger and just have to share it? Do it! Maybe the blogger will even return the kind gesture. Boom, you just made a connection!
    • Host a live web chat. Spend some time with your readers and a new friend by chatting live on the internet. This is great for epic Q&A sessions!

    Work With Brands

You’ve been contacted by a brand that wants to work with you but you have no idea what to do. Take it easy, I got you covered!

    • Create a day-to-night look. Showcase the longevity of a product by sharing with your readers how they can wear it now and later.
    • Style a product multiple ways. Show off the versatility of a single item by styling it for more than one outfit.
    • Write a review. You can’t go wrong with a good ol’ review post. Either ask for a physical product to review, talk about your first impression of the website, or some other creative post. If you’re especially outgoing, you could also make a video review. Here’s an example using a cute scarf.
    • Host a giveaway. Contact the company and ask if they would sponsor a giveaway. This is better if you already have a good relationship with the PR person.
    • Ask for a discount code. Some brands look down on small bloggers but I’ve had great success in asking for a discount code to share with my readers. Plus, it gets your foot in the door by exchanging some e-mails. You have to start somewhere!
    • Conduct an interview. Forget asking for products, get down to the nitty gritty of a website and ask for an interview. Talk to the owner (great for Etsy crafters!), web designers, or other people of importance. Really get to know their job!
    • Create a shopping guide. It cost you nothing at all to use a product image (except a link back) in a shopping guide or other round-up style post. Be sure to clue the company in to what you do. They may even want to sponsor an entire post for you if they like what they see!
    • Create a haul video. If you’re good with video making, create a haul video for a brand. This doesn’t even have to be sponsored as you may already be a big shopper at one particular store and have a lot to share from them.
    • Create a look book video. Break out your camera again and use your styling magic to put together a video of different outfits.

    Work In Real Life

Do you live in an area populated with bloggers? Here’s some IRL collab ideas.

    • Host an event. Devote an entire afternoon to catching up with your favorite bloggers by hosting a swap party, a lunch outing, a workshop, or other type of get together.
    • Meet up for outfit photos. Give your tripods/S.O. a break and meet up with a blogger to take outfit photos. Bonus: They know the best lighting and are pros at getting the look from strangers.
    • Go shopping. Do some mall walking, window shopping, try on prom dresses, or whatever you can think of when the two of you get together for shopping.
    • Plan a reader meet-up. Get your readers involved by hosting an event for everyone to meet and greet. (If it gets too big, be sure to ask for permission for wherever you’re meeting. A lot places have their limits.)

Feel free to leave me your ideas in the comments & I’ll add them to the list with credit to you. Happy collab’ing!

A Floral Frock For My 24th Birthday

hannah rupp the outfit repeater eshakti floral dress birthday fashion styleHey, an outfit from my weekend! I promise this will be the final post about my birthday because the last thing I want to do is sound like is a broken record. But really, I had a great weekend and why not go a little overboard posting about it. You only turn 24 once!

The highlights are I got a shiny new camera lens, I was on TV, I thrifted my butt off, ate lots of cake, failed at hosting a live web event, and got a bunch of birthday wishes from the coolest internet folks. Heck, I’m still finding wishes in blog posts. (It’s kind of like how you find sand in your underwear weeks after you were at a beach.)

Plus, compared to the test I’m taking at the hospital today, my birthday is a much more fun topic to focus on. Wish me luck! It’s nothing invasive but I have to eat hospital food and who really likes doing that?

  • This Is What My Birthday Suit Looks Like

This Is What My Birthday Suit Looks Like

hannah rupp the outfit repeater birthday suit vintage thrifted

This outfit is a far cry from my polka dot dress and cardigan I was originally planning to wear on my birthday. But I woke up last Friday, watched a Cyndi Lauper music video, and suddenly knew what to wear.

I’ve always kept a little Cyndi Lauper quote in the back of my head since I was a young kid and it had to do with her ever changing style. Every time she wore something, people would copy her, and all she wanted to do was be original so she constantly had to out-crazy herself, so to speak.

Whether I’m getting dressed or working on something creative, I always think of what my stamp is I can put on it to make it my own. That’s even more so important on the internets where copying can be just too easy!

So in conclusion, I broke out my tackiest 80’s blazer and faced my day in my birthday suit because why not?

  • My Thoughts On Style Icons & A Faux-hemian Outfit

My Thoughts On Style Icons & A Faux-hemian Outfit

hannah rupp the outfit repeater bohemian winter fashionI’ve been plagued with a really dumb fashion question lately and I would love some opinions on it. When choosing your style icons, are you to disregards one personality and base your choice solely on what they wear?

From what I gather, you can. A style icon is someone you admire from a fashion point of view while a role model is someone who is really the whole package.

For example, my style icon is Nicole Richie and I tried to channel her in this outfit. (I think I look a little more like a safari guide at a children’s zoo but that’s beside the point) However, I wouldn’t want to emulate her entire life. Girls got a killer sense of humor but I love my own life!

What do you think? Does your style icon have it all (ahem Audrey Hepburn) or does she just have good style?

  • Skirting The Issue | An eShakti Review

    teal-red-eshakti-outfit-02

Disclaimer: The skirt in this post was provided for free from eShakti.com. However no monetary compensation was exchanged and all opinions are my own.

Mint green, perforated fabric, skater style silhouette – what’s not to love about this skirt? On paper web it sounded like a dream. I’ve never had any issues ordering from eShakti but this skirt sorely missed the mark for me.

The problems were all with the skirt itself and definitely not on the company.

While customization is highly encouraged, the changes that I can think of to be made to this skirt would go beyond their system. It needs a more adjustable waistband, a more structured material, and so on. Wow, do I suddenly sound like a skirt snob or what??

Considering I’ve had good luck in the past with eShakti (this little beauty for example) I will not hold this bad skirt against them. Even the best companies have downfalls sometimes! But hey, it’s still a cute skirt, right?

  • The Vintage Advantage: Why Old Clothes Are Better Than New Ones

The Vintage Advantage: Why Old Clothes Are Better Than New Ones

hannah rupp the outfit repeater vintage clothes plaid coat winterThe best time to wear vintage is all the time. If you’re not yet wearing the styles of yesteryear then what are you waiting for? Here are five compelling reasons to follow my lead:

    • Old styles really had it going on.
    • Vintage clothes come from thrift stores and you can meet the neatest people there + everything is cheap.
    • There’s a high chance somebody died in those clothes and in some strange way you’re continuing their legacy. Don’t mess this up!
    • I can guarantee you won’t run into somebody else wearing the exact same thing.
    • Your hat just might get complimented on by a strange man at the Dollar Tree.

What are you favorite reason for wearing vintage clothes?
