    ThredUp Thrift Store Clothing Haul

Does anyone else’s winter hobbies include thrifting online from home?!

My online thrift store of choice is ThredUp! (Peep the name change they made in February 2024!)

ThredUp is an online consignment store that carries women’s clothes, shoes, and accessories. I’ve been a customer for many years and consistently order from them.

I love them so much that I’ve become a ThredUp partner so if you’re interested in trying it, use my link to get 40% off your first order!

I had an overflowing list of favorites and finally hit the BUY button on my cart.

Let’s take a look at the hits and misses of my most recent haul!

    Flutter Sleeves

I’ve been trying to track down a flouncy white blouse for a couple of years now and took a chance on this one.

I would say it’s pretty cute and I had fun styling. It’s not completely what I had in mind but it’s no returnable so I will make it work!

    Head Games

It’s still winter in Wisconson so of course I’m going to shake up my outfits with fun cold-weather gear. I loved the throwback pattern on this hat with modern coloring that matches my personality!

    Check Mate

I’m currently trying to update all the plaids in my closet after a certain shrinking-in-the-wash incident. I plan to buy them oversized so it doesn’t happen again.

I thought this long plaid/tunic would replace one top but the sleeves and hips were too tight. It was not returnable so I’m just going to pass it along to the thrift store.

    Sassy Sequins

I don’t know if anyone else does this but I typically make a thredUP order that revolves around one statement piece – for me, it was this sequin cardigan from my thrifting wishlist.

This is even better than I could have imagined! The sequins are high quality, the fabric is completely stretchy, and the sleeves… SWOON!

    In Clothes-ing

This was another thrift haul of hits and misses but I’d say the hits really HIT! Amirite?!

How To Rewear Your Party Clothes Later

Here’s a little secret: you can wear party clothes to other events. You just have to restyle them strategically!

If you’re done with your fabulous New Year’s Eve outfit and want to bring the oomph back into those clothes, read on…

How To Restyle… A Sequin Tee

I love that this silver sequin tee adds sparkle to whatever you’re wearing.

For my dressy look, I paired it with black and imagined it for a cool NYE outfit. Then after the party, you can throw on jeans and a playful moto jacket for a more laidback vibe!

    How To Restyle… Plaid Pants

My thrifted plaid pants get a lot of wear year round so I had fun thinking up two completely opposite looks.

For the holidays – maybe getting a tree or doing some last-minute gift shopping – I wore them with a red sweater, cozy coat, and matching accessories.

But when that’s all over with, these thrifted plaid pants are the perfect companion for a vintage band sweatshirt and distressed denim jacket. I’m all ready for a rock concert!

    How To Restyle… A LBD

Everyone likely has a little black dress – whether it’s a wrap, shift, or some other silhouette.

I went back to basics with mine and styled it with completely black accessories for a formal affair, and then lightened it up with a denim jacket and practical flats for a more everyday look.

How To Restyle… A Sequin Dress

Sequins are so much fun to wear but you might not always want the attention that comes with wearing them.

So, go all out with your boldest accessories and wear it for NYE. Then restyle it later with the same jeans + moto jacket trick I shared in the first example.

How To Restyle… A Plaid Blazer

There’s nothing more “holiday” than a tartan plaid pattern. It’s everywhere! For me, it’s part of one of my most beloved thrifted blazers.

I do tend to struggle with this particular plaid past the holidays but I tried my best to imagine it like any other red top in my closet.

For a party look, it was easy to wear with a black dress and red accessories. For something more casual, I styled it with a graphic tee, palazzo pants, and sneakers. In hindsight, I wish I had done wide-leg jeans. Learn from my mistake! (Or take my inspo as-is!)

How To Restyle… A Metallic Jumpsuit

This silver metallic jumpsuit that I thrifted really makes a statement! However, I’ve found that it’s really easy to restyle.

I’ve previously added a crop top over the top portion to give the illusion that I own cool, silver pants. For this example, I flipped that and put on palazzo pants (that match the length and volume of the ‘suit) and dressed it WAY down with a denim jacket.

It hardly looks like the same jumpsuit!

    Christmas Wrapping It Up

So next time you’re stuck on styling a “party” piece, remember there is plenty of opportunity to take your holiday clothes and rewear them.

Restyling your holiday clothes allows you to use your investment piece more often and extend its life. That’s totally The Outfit Repeater way!

hannah rupp outfit, white graphic tee, red blazer, red plaid pants, and red headbandWhat Do You Wear in November?

November is that weird time when we’re living post-Halloween, expectant of a big turkey dinner (if you’re in the US) and half the world is already decorating for Christmas.

What do you wear for such an in-between time? Is it too soon for an ugly Christmas Sweater? Is it too late to wear black and orange?

    Enter: plaid pants.

Plaid pants are my solution for having something vaguely festive, still a little spooky, and definitely only in style if you’re Avril Lavigne in 2004.

My red plaid pants were thrifted during an epic thrift excursion with some of my family last year.

I’ve had them on my thrifting wishlist for many years and was excited to find them. I’ve since worn them with graphic tees, sweaters, sweatshirts, and every top in between.

I styled them up recently for an outing with a friend and liked the outfit so much that I wanted to snap a photo (or like 40) and break the look down for you. Let’s dig in!

How I Wore My Thrifted Plaid Pants

My outfit actually started off as a simple jeans and an X-Files graphic tee combo. But I was feeling drawn to this unworn red blazer in my closet (this is its inaugural wear on the blog, please say hi 👋)

Once I added such a big pop of color, it only seemed right to keep adding more. So I added my red thrifted plaid pants and red ballet flats.. and then a red headband because, why not?!

My friend that I met up with is very used to my “interesting” outfit choices so it felt like an OK time to experiment! We ended up at a thrift store where I even got a few compliments from strangers. Winning!

9 Fall Fashion Trends To Try From Maurices cover imageFall Fashion 2021

Who else is excited for fall fashion this year?!

Whether you’re going back to school, back to work, or are just a fall fashion enthusiast; I think everyone can appreciate the newest trends now arriving at Maurices.

I recently stopped into my local Maurices store (where I used to work!) and got to check everything out in person. One thing lead to another and… I’ve been hired as the store’s social media content creator!

My unofficial initiation (#unpaid) was to create some fun short-form videos for social media that showed off back-to-school style for teachers. While the clothes were in my possession, I had a little fun playing dress-up and created a bunch of extra outfits to show y’all the versatility of each piece.

Maurices is full of affordable basics and on-trend items that can fill in your wardrobe and still leave room for your thrifted capes and favorite secondhand scarf! (Click here to learn more about mixing current trends with thrifted finds.)

I’m so elated to share this news with you and be immersed in the fashion industry once again. Even if it’s just a few hours a week while I’m working at home in my PJs! Follow along to see what we’re up to 👉 Facebook | Instagram

A Boho Blouse Worn 3 Ways

I was totally drawn to this brightly colored boho-style top with its bishop sleeves and keyhole neckline.

While it’s a trend on its own, I paired it with some brand new Edgely denim (on the left). They’re a buttery soft material with a 360 stretch but are still totally jeans! Maurices always seem to outdo themselves with comfortable denim. I highly recommend giving them a try!

Floral For Fall Because Anything Goes

One look on my website and you’ll realize I really love pink. It’s everywhere!

So of course I was happy to see it trending in the stores, alongside floral. After the year we’ve had with Covid, why not wear pieces traditionally seen as spring trends in the fall? Anything goes at this point!

I paired up these colors with more color in the form of brown jeans. I will never say no to colored denim!

    More Trends To Try

The last few items I picked up were a graphic tee (don’t sleep on their vintage-inspired band tees!), a pair of classic dark wash skinny jeans, and the quintessential oversized plaid button-up.

    Thrifting Fall Fashion Trends

Everything old really is new again! Like these thrifted clothes that probably thought they’d never be cool again but I managed to smash them together to recreate a big trend this fall: monochromatic dressing! You might remember me talking about it in my 3 Fall  Fashion Trends post.

While most of us probably participate in this trend daily without realizing it in our head-to-toe black ensembles, I thought it was fun to take some creative liberty and pair together vintage clothes that are all a bright color. Plus you can never go wrong with some plaid and corduroy in the fall!

What color would you dare to wear all over?
