Cheetah Girl

My love affair with this leopard print tank top is still going strong. I paired it with a pink cardigan on a whim and got tons of compliments on it. It’s a perfect match!

Wine Not?

We’re entering that season where getting dressed is weird because it’s still hot outside but we want to wear fall trends.

My solution for this is wearing a beautifuL palette of berries and pinks and topping it off with a kimono so I didn’t get too hot. Hey, wine not?

Burgundy Babe

Speaking of fall fashion… our district was challenged to try a pair of denim we don’t normally wear. I was enthralled by these light wash destructed boyfriend jeans so my fellow stylists created this purple-toned outfit for me. It’s super casual for me but I think it’s still fun. What are your thoughts?

This outfit was for a challenge that asked us to incorporate some fall trends into our look. I went with flared jeans, a duster, and a fashion top with a new silhouette. This is a bit outside my comfort zone but I enjoyed giving it a try. Will you be wearing flared jeans this fall?

I’m really getting into clothes that are “pre-styled” for me like cuffed jeans and knotted shirts. You can just throw them on and go without much thought. Which is how this outfit was created!

This outfit was inspired by the trends we have in store right now. Lots of fall florals, coppers, rusts, and denim. So while none of the pieces are actually from Maurices, I still felt like I fit in quite well!

Back To Basics

My favorite way to wear a dress is with a pair of sneakers. It adds a little unexpected twist plus are freakin’ comfortable!

Classy

I was really excited for this district-wide outfit challenge because it focuses on refined pieces! I’ve always imagined what I would wear in a corporate setting so I went with a plain white tee, plaid blazer, and wide leg pants.

The other half of our challenge was to transform the look for play so of course I went with colored jeggings and sneakers. Where would you go in this look?

That plaid blazer from the challenge immediately came home with me. It’s been on my thrifting wishlist for awhile but I haven’t had much luck finding it! I’d rather not let it slip by so I snatched it up. It’s stretchy, thick, and has the perfect oversized fit. Plus, how awesome does it look with a graphic tee?!

My Summer Tan

Confession: I can’t tan. Once upon a time I could, but now my skin stays as pale as Snow White. This is something I have accepted and embrace.

But that doesn’t mean I can’t join in on the fun of being tan in the summer – I just wear it in my clothes! My outfit is comprised of a bunch of neutrals mashed together into one look.

Hot off my week of wearing this leopard print tank top everyday, I wore it again!

This time I went with a pair of foolproof denim shorts, basic sandals, and added a white denim jacket to keep me comfy in the A/C.

An Outfit With FLARE!

Howdy, pardner. How do we feel about the flared denim that’s trending at Maurices? We’ve got tons of cuts and washes to match any style!

Since this outfit was part of our district-wide outfit challenge this week, I truly challenged myself by wearing an outfit that’s the opposite of me. My rock and roll self took a step back to a decade when Woodstock was all the rage. This look won me second place in our contest. What do you think?

Red On Arrival

I started off this very patriotic week with an alternative red, white and blue look. Then I noticed the colors of the main part of my outfit matched this kimono and that’s how this colorful creation was made!

That Floral Feeling

Another day, another kimono. The funny thing is that my coworker and I both showed up in very similar floral kimonos. Totally unplanned!

I paired mine with this thrifted velvet tank (tank tops are very hot right now at Maurices!), denim shorts, and platform sandals. It also inspired my look for our weekly outfit challenge….

Weekly Outfit Challenge

Our weekly outfit challenge was focused on denim shorts (hence why I wore mine to work so I didn’t have to change!) and encouraged us to try a high-low look – meaning our outfit had elements of casual and dressy. This is what I came up with based on that information! How did I do?

Miss America

This is probably the easiest outfit I’ve ever planned. You really can’t mess up wearing red, white, and blue on the 4th of July!

My flag tee was part of a $5 promotion (yep, no strings attached!) so I got one to be very on brand. It was so fun seeing customers walk in all day with their own patriotic outfits!

Summer Whites

Our weather has been oddly cool for the start of summer so it’s been a great excuse to play around with longer layers.

This sort of outfit is ideal for people who shy away from shorts and tank tops when it gets hot. You still get to dress to celebrate the weather but have modesty, too!

Weekly Outfit Challenge

Our weekly outfit challenge was so fun this week. The focus was on our macrame pieces, and the twist was another associate in the store had to style you!

My boss picked out this totally adorable look for me. We’ve both been pining after these pineapple shorts. She managed to make them look very grown up with a dressy top, black blazer, and strappy heels. What do you think?

Blue Monday

The only thing “blue” about my Monday were the colors used in my outfit. I wanted to play around with a monochromatic look without being too obvious.

It’s tricky wearing two shades of blue at one but this navy blue short is the perfect hue to wear with these light blue jeans. They don’t blend into one another and look very chic!

Photobomb Day!

How have we not talked about photobomb day yet?! Basically, once a month or so, an announcement is posted in our private Facebook group asking everyone to quickly drop and take a selfie of our #OOTD while at work. It’s always spur of the moment so we never know when it will happen!

It’s always fun to see what everyone is wearing at different stores at any given moment. Just another reason to always dress your best!

As much as I love the freelance life like writing for this blog or creating YouTube videos, it’s fun having an excuse to dress up and get out of the house a few days a week.

No two shifts at Maurices are exactly the same so that’s why I always try to shake things up with new pieces + what I already own in my closet to keep my looks fresh. Variety is the spice of life!

Our district-wide outfit challenge this week (also known as Fashion 15) was focused on dresses… again.

This time, we were challenged to style them for a “work look” and an “off duty” look. I couldn’t decide which was which for me; I just had fun styling this red linen dress!

Really Really Ridiculously Simple

I was inspired to elevate a simple graphic tee + jean shorts by adding a jacket, hoop earrings, and my go-to red lipstick from Colourpop.

This outfit was a great balance of casual and dressy on a Sunday morning. I had an early start at the store to change mannequins and, once we officially opened, I remained in the store to help customers shop.

Olive You

I thrifted this blouse last weekend and loved how it emulated a hero pattern we recently got in the store. It’s so light and ethereal so I ran with that idea and styled my hair in a low bun and swiped on some glossy red lipstick.

A little girl in the store said she loved my outfit so it must be good because kids are always very honest. 🙂

On An Island Far Away

Our district-wide outfit challenge this week was focused on Paradise Breeze, a new collection we have in store.

We just got in this striped flowy kimono top and I wanted to excuse to try it on so this was it. I went a little boho glam with the styling by wearing white jeggings, pink wedges, and neutral accessories. It’s a slight departure from my day-to-day style but would be great on an island vacation! Where would you wear it to?

Green Day

I finally got these sandals broken in so I want to wear them as much as possible for work and play. On this day, they were begging to be worn with colors so I just piled on as much as I could!

It’s always a good idea to balance out of a hue-filled outfit with some neutral pieces. It keeps the look from being overwhelming!

American Girl

While everyone was out enjoying BBQs with their families on Memorial Day, I was enjoying my outfit at the store. Not only did I dress patriotically, but I also did a nod to the old fashion rule of waiting to “wear white after Memorial Day.” But we all know that’s silly because I’ve been wearing these jeggings for the last couple of months!

Concrete Jungle

You might have seen that I just thrifted these like-new flatform sandals in my latest haul video. I was so excited to wear them to work but first I made a pit stop at a park to take my outfit pictures.

Off The Shoulder Hook!

Half of us participated in wearing off-the-shoulder tops just for fun on Friday. We like doing themes as a store so that customers can get real life outfit inspiration from a variety of styles and body types. I guess I can add living mannequin to my resume?

The weather was amazing so I reflected that in my look with this thrifted yellow top. Then, per usual, I piled on as much color as I could. If wearing colors is wrong then I don’t wanna be right!
