Hot Girl Summer: How To Look Cool (And Be Modest!) Right Now

Hot Girl Summer: How To Look Cool (And Be Modest!) Right NowThe Problem With “Hot Girl Summer”

Here’s the thing about trends… they’re very one size fits all. For a couple of years now, Hot Girl Summer has been a big deal as soon as the temperature rises.

Hot Girl Summer is usually characterized by wearing clothing that makes you feel confident (typically swimsuits and tight outfits) and encourages the wearer to live uninhibited, against the rules of society. Doesn’t sound too bad, right?

But it makes the rest of us – the ones who dress modestly or don’t take exotic vacations – feel left out. Why not redefine the trend and tailor it to meet you where you are? That’s where I got the inspiration for the outfit in this post. Keep reading for my tips on how to take back the Hot Girl Summer trend!

Redefine The Meaning Of The Trend

What makes summer fun for you? Maybe it’s going to the lake, watching Netflix with the A/C blasting, or taking a walk through the park.

Dig into your passions that are unique to the summer season.

For me, I love the extended daylight which means you have more time for thrifting! (Would you really expect me to say anything else? ?)

Rewrite The Rules of What To Wear

After envisioning your perfect summer, what would you wear to enhance the moment and make it memorable?

You might think back to past summer adventures and you can remember exactly what you were wearing because it made you feel good, or it fit the occasion or had a special meaning to it.

I put together my outfit using all secondhand pieces because, you know, thrifting. ?

Because I feel my best in bright colors, I put a few together which helps create interest in an outfit when it’s hot outside.

Something else that helps jazz up an ordinary look is to layer – which is tough in the summer. But kimonos are my secret tricks! Just toss them on over any outfit and you’re both modest and stylish!

WHAT I’M WEARING ?
Thrifted tank top, kimono, skirt (which is actually a dress), about $5 total | Old Maurices high heels, $10 | Wet n Wild lipstick in Stoplight Red (shop exact lipstick) | Old Shop-ko open ‘O’ necklace, $2 | Hand-me-down goldtone necklace

Own Your Verison of Hot Girl Summer

One thing I can agree with about the Hot Girl Summer trend is that you should live confidently and wear clothes that amplify that.

Whatever a Hot Girl Summer looks like to you, own your look and have fun with it!

I plan on reading every single post of yours … I have read only a little bit and I can tell you have the same thrift store love that I do. I’m quite a bit older than you but absolutely love your style and am looking forward to being inspired. I love the outfit, especially the kimono type top you are wearing over everything. Awesome!
