  • Jeans I Thrifted + 3 Ways I’m Styling Them

3 ways Hannah Rupp styled a pair of thrifted Levi jeansThrifting a Pair of Jeans

One thing I hear over and over from my internet community is the painful process of trying to thrift jeans. (This goes for in-person and online.) I feel ya!

So what do you do when you try on a pair of jeans at a thrift store and they fit you perfectly? Buy them without a second thought and style them immediately. Oh, and, don’t forget to do a happy dance in the dressing room!

I recently struck gold by finding a pair of gray Levi high-waisted jeans at the thrift store. With or without an available dressing room, I always carry a retractable measuring tape with me to help me find the perfect fit and save me the trouble of trying on my finds.

I held it up to pair after pair with no luck.

Then these Levi’s matched all my measurements so I threw them in my cart to try on. To not much of a surprise, they were the perfect fit. And they’ve got just enough stretch in them to make them comfy, too!

The price tag was a lot higher than I normally pay – $11 – but I rarely find jeans that fit and are something that will fill a gap in my closet so I bit the bullet and bought them. So far, no regrets!

How I Styled My Thrifted Jeans

These thrifted jeans are a good, neutral counterpart to my rainbow wardrobe. I’m in need of darker colors to anchor my outfits so I had fun playing around in my closet and coming up with combinations. Here’s how I styled my thrifted jeans!

Styling My Thrifted Jeans With a Sweatshirt

The fit of these thrifted jeans can be casual so I leaned into that with my first look. It’s a thrifted sweatshirt that I cropped myself, a pair of old sneakers, and a simple necklace.

I could take this even further with a plaid around my waist or a denim jacket. It’s a great throw-and-go look!

Styling My Thrifted Jeans With a Moto Jacket

I am really digging the second way I styled my thrifted jeans. As soon as I saw them, I knew they were meant to be worn with a moto jacket.

This look feels so cool! Plus I could style a plethora of different tops and tees under the moto jacket to change the look ever so slightly. I added the beret and red lipstick to give it a feminine edge.

Styling My Thrifted Jeans With an Oversized Vintage Blazer

My last look was inspired by a similar ‘fit I wore many years ago that involved flared jeans, a graphic tee, and this oversized vintage blazer. I recreated (or outfit repeated!) the whole thing but swapped out the flared jeans for these new thrifted Levi jeans.

I am obsessed with the look!

    Tips For Thrifting Jeans

If you’re trying to thrift a pair of jeans and could use some help/encouragement, remember to:

    • Carry a measuring tape and check every pair that catches your eye
    • Thrift outside of your usual size, go up and down at least 2 sizes, if possible
    • Pay attention to the care tag/fabric content. Spandex will give you more wiggle room with the size!
    • Wear a dress, skirt, or biker shorts when thrifting so you can try jeans on over your clothes if a fitting room isn’t available
    • Be patient! 🙂

  • A Colorful (And Thrifted!) Spring Capsule Wardrobe

A Colorful (And Thrifted!) Spring Capsule Wardrobe

    Colorful Capsule Wardrobe For Spring

Spring is here! The sun is shining! Floral is trending! (Groundbreaking!)

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to plan outfits, I’ve put together a colorful (and thrifted!) Spring capsule wardrobe to get your creative juices flowing.

There’s no need to go out and buy a whole new spring wardrobe – get creative with what you already have in your closet to create a custom seasonal wardrobe!

What I Picked For My Capsule Wardrobe

The base for any capsule wardrobe is a cohesive color story. For me, I started with my newly thrifted rainbow striped cardigan and built it from there. Most pieces were thrifted! (If you’re curious about something, just ask!)

My color story ended up being very saturated and bold – just the way I like it!

The pieces themselves were chosen based on their mixability. Any balanced wardrobe needs tees, tanks, sweaters, cardigans, pants, and denim jackets. All in all, I picked out 11 pieces (because 11 is my lucky number) and considered my accessories as “free” items.

During my time creating this post, I was able to come up with 21 outfits! Of course, there could be a lot left on the table – add or remove a jacket, do more creative layering, etc.

    How I Remixed My Closet

Once the 11 pieces were picked for my Spring capsule wardrobe, the mixing came very easily. I started playing around and pairing the colors together to create new outfits from my existing closet!

The Benefits of a Capsule Wardrobe

A capsule wardrobe is not a new concept at all. I’ve even shared a Winter capsule wardrobe, Fall capsule wardrobe, and Summer capsule wardrobe on my blog before!

They come in handy when you’re packing for a vacation and you need to be considerate of space in a suitcase and what you’ll wear during your trip.

But during your everyday life, a capsule wardrobe can be beneficial when you’re transitioning your wardrobe (body changes, life shifts, etc).

Having a planned out wardrobe of a few select pieces that can be mixed and matched will really speed up your get-ready routine and take away any decision fatigue you’re experiencing. And couldn’t we all use something to make our lives easier?!

What I Wore For My Birthday

    I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 32!

On March 20th, I celebrated another trip around the sun, and that was the inspiration behind my birthday photoshoot – another trip around the sun!

I wanted to incorporate lots of bright colors and earthy elements – despite Pisces being a water sign – you’ll just have to go with the flow with me on this one.

    My Birthday Outfit

This secondhand ASOS dress was bought from thredUP last October and I’ve been saving it for a special occasion like today! I love the vague tie-dye print. It feels both hippie and eclectic! Dopamine dressing at its finest.

    Birthday Photoshoot

Aside from my outfit, my photoshoot vision also included this DIY blue cloud background to represent being outdoors. (Somewhere I don’t go a lot lol)

I also made this PROP cake! It looks good enough to eat but it’s actually craft foam and lightweight spackling.

All in all, I love this birthday photoshoot. I think it captures who I am and how I feel about getting older. This will definitely be a tough birthday photoshoot to outdo for next year!

    What I Wore To Work

What does a social media manager for Maurices wear to work? Anything goes!

While most of my work is done from home, wearing the same leggings and sweatshirt too many days in a row; I do try to pop into the store once a week to check in with my team and create content around new arrivals.

Sometimes I tell people that my job is basically like your cool friend gave you access to her closet and her Instagram password and said do whatever you want. It’s so fun!

So here’s what I’ve been wearing and trying-on. Want to see it in real time? Give our Instagram or Facebook page a follow!

    Outfits: Home to Work

This set of outfit photos is what I wore TO work, meaning the clothes were my own, mainly thrifted, and just what I wore to run around the store in.

The pink outfit was a day I went shopping with my associate discount and immediately needed this PINK belt bag… and the matching one in neutral. They’re already coming in very handy and were exactly something I was looking for!

    Outfits: Workwear

My “office” is either a large fitting room or my bed but I can still put together looks that would be worthy of an official workplace.

I’ve been wearing the black bengaline straight leg pant in heavy rotation when I style up workwear. They’re very stretchy pants with deep pockets. Great for lots of sitting at a desk and carrying around your phone!

    Outfits: Spring Dresses

Is it even Spring if you don’t wear a floral dress?! Maurices has SO many dresses this year – literally something for everyone. Whether you need something for Easter Sunday, family photos, a wedding… whatever. Don’t sleep on Maurices dresses right now!

    Outfits: Denim

Denim is always in style and I’ve been trying on LOTS of styles this season! I ended up falling in love with the edgely straight leg high rise jean. I tried them on for a fashion challenge and ended up buying them! They’ve now gotten worn at least 2-3 times a week. Worth every penny!

    Outfits: All Dressed Up

These last outfits were used in different videos I created for our social media pages. The head-to-toe neutral was a bit outside my comfort zone but I’m always up for styling something new-to-me.

The other look, featuring the emerald jewel green blazer is something I would totally put together from my own closet. Plus, this blazer comes in a plethora of other colors so if green isn’t your thing, maybe another color will catch your eye!

    In Clothes-ing

That’s all the outfits I have to share right now! Do you need a style number for a Maurices piece or more information about something I’m wearing? Let me know in the comments!

Also, be sure to Pin your favorite outfit to recreate later!
