Festival Fashion: How To Wear It Now and Later

Tis the season for festival fashion! From flower crowns to fringed vests, it feels like music festivals have become their own culture with a special dress code. Instead of hanging up your pieces until next season, why not remix them for all year long?

I’ve never actually been to a music festival but I get the gist of what goes on thanks to websites, magazines, and other blogs.

So to try and being as convincing as possible for this post, I channeled my best Vanessa Hudgens and Katy Perry (both frequent concert goers) to bring to life my idea of the quintessential festival look, which I will deconstruct in a minute.

The Festival Fits Breakdown

My first festival fit embodied a carefree spirit with classic elements like mom shorts, a crossbody bag, a lace vest, booties, and a stylish hat for both function and fashion.

While most of those are staples of a look to wear at an outdoor musical festival, I really want to focus on the peasant top. I think it stands out the most both because of it’s pretty pattern and also it’s billowy shape (apparently that’s the theme of the clothes on my blog this week!).

My blouse accidentally joined my closet after some good thrifting last month. I said in my thrift haul video that I fell victim to it’s cuteness and wasn’t sure how I’d style it but I guess I had a few ideas up my sleeves.

Effortless Festival Style for Every Day

This thrifted peasant top did some of it’s best work when it was paired with a simple pair of patterned shorts and sandals. If your a/c is blasting this summer or you work in a cold environment, a cardigan or light jacket really pull the whole look together.

Here are some additional tips for maximizing this outfit’s potential:

  • Play with Patterns: For the patterned shorts, choose a design that complements the color or style of the peasant top. Floral tops pair well with paisley or geometric shorts, while striped tops can be balanced with a smaller floral print.
  • Accessorize: A statement necklace or a pair of colorful earrings can add personality to the look. If it’s chilly, consider a scarf or statement belt to tie the outfit together.
  • Shoe Options: Sandals are a great choice for hot weather, but ballet flats, wedges, or even sneakers can work depending on the desired level of dressiness.
  • Cardigan Magic: When choosing a cardigan, a cropped length will balance the proportions of the peasant top. Consider a lightweight material like linen or cotton for warmer weather, or a cozy knit for cooler days.

I love music festival, but I have never once worn festival attire. Probably because I was a teen when the band tee reigned supreme and that just seems the right thing to do lol. Maybe this post can sway me!
