How To Transform A Maxi Dress in Under 5 Minutes

I finally figured it out. What is that you ask? How to transform a maxi dress into a mini dress in less than 5 minutes.. all without the use of sewing. (Because when you need a party dress fast, ain’t nobody got time for sewing!) All you’re going to need is a handful of safety pins and a few minutes to watch the video I posted above.

This is the exact method I used on my maxi dress last week for my birthday outfit post. It’s so simple and you might find yourself trying to alter other clothes with this technique. Have fun and good luck!

I love your dress! You look super cute!

  •  Thank you! πŸ™‚

  • You did a great job! Safety pins are a pretty cool trick. I used to use them to hem my jeans when I was in high school.

  • I have been in the process of “transforming” a maxi skirt into a better one for about ten days, now. Wanna come over here and finish it for me (: You did a great job on it, though!

Thats such a good idea! I’d never have thought of using pins – I’d have just gave it the chop haha! :/ but at least with the pins you can just take them out and have 2 dresses! πŸ™‚

  • Aww, yes! They are a great invention with so many purposes. πŸ™‚

  • Well, I just looked at your blog and noticed you totally worked it out with that extra long skirt! So I guess you didn’t need my help after all. haha
    Thanks for the feedback!! πŸ™‚

  •  Thanks! Using the pins may also be a cool idea to try out a length before you chop it up as well. But I like the idea of having two dresses – and this is one of my favorite maxi dresses so I totally wouldn’t want to put scissors to it!

  •  You’re very welcome! πŸ™‚
