Think you have nothing to wear? Think again!

Clothes-minded

Have you ever dreamed of waking up and having a computer plan out the perfect outfit for you ala Cher in Clueless? Thanks to modern technology, apps like that now exist!

I did some heavy research to track down 6 outfit planning apps that claim to be closet experts. I put them to the test to see if they knew more than me and jotted down my general thoughts on each one! Let’s explore…

Smart Closet – Your Fashion Style | Android

This app had a very posh interface that I was instantly attracted to. I probably spent the most time playing around and uploading my wardrobe into it. It was missing a few categories like for a denim jacket. But it made up for that by allowing you to really catalog your closet to a T!

While there was no “stylist” feature to make an outfit for me, you could create your own looks, though mine ended up looking very glitchy.

Overall, I think this app is better left as a shopping and closet organization app. Not what I was looking for! 🙁

The Stylish Girl app was very on par with the Smart Closet app. Both let you meticulously organize your wardrobe, manually plan outfits, and shop straight from the app.

But because I was in search of an app to pick outfits for me, I decided to pass on using this app.

STYLICIOUS – Closet Organizer |  Android

My first impression was that this app looked cute and was already starting off helpful by displaying a tutorial. (I had trouble accessing help menus for a lot of these apps)

After scrolling around and adding things to my closet, I realized this app was a total copycat of the Stylish Girl app. That completely turned me off and I quickly deleted the app. It was clear it wasn’t going to help me come up with outfits.

ClosetSpace – Style ManagementAndroid

Unfortunately, I never got to use ClosetSpace. I got stuck on the login screen and it wouldn’t let me proceed. It looked like it was gonna be fun, too!

What 2 Wear? | Android

Oh wear to begin with this app… I’m about 90% sure it’s nothing but a weather app. I tried adding my own clothes but their digital wardrobe kept displaying images of a stock wardrobe. I left with 0 outfit ideas and more confused than when I started.

Fashion You – Virtual Closet | Android

Finally! This is what I came for! Fashion You delivered an app that looked cute and functioned how a closet/outfit organization app should.

My favorite features were how it broke down your closet by stats (which was seen in other apps but I liked this one the most), had very specific clothing categories and, best of all, had a stylist feature that came up with outfits for me.

The only complaint I have is that you had to categorize your clothes by season which isn’t something I normally do in my closet. But honestly, it’s not a deal breaker!

The Final Verdict

I think it’s pretty obvious that my favorite app from this list is Fashion You! It was the only app that did exactly what I wanted and it totally exceeded my expectations. I actually liked it so much that I put together a fashion challenge where I let the app plan my outfits for 7 days in a row. Click the image below to see my results!
